In the 12-plus years since the Atlanta native began his career, Future has become one of the world’s most popular trap/hip-hop artists. Boasting an extensive discography, Future has made a fortune just from his Spotify streams alone.

Using the given Spotify payout rate of .00437 payout per stream, and factoring that with the industry-standard artist payout of 18%, we have approximated just how much Future has made from Spotify with each of his major projects.

Astronaut Status (2012) — 41,526,983 Streams = $32,665.12

Future Astronaut Status

This was Future’s ninth mixtape, and his earliest Spotify entry. The project is Future’s least profitable on Spotify, but many consider this mixtape integral to Future’s mainstream success as it helped grow his buzz.

Pluto (2012) — 158,348,071 Streams = $124,556.59

Future Pluto

Future’s debut studio album sold just 41,000 units in its first week, but it produced hit singles like “Magic,” “Same Damn Time,” and “Turn off the Lights.” The album’s high replay value allowed it to accumulate over 150 million streams over the decade since its initial release.

Honest (2014) — 275,969,964 Streams = $217,077.97

Stepping away from the romantic themes of this earlier work, Future showcases his masterful use of autotune on his sophomore studio album. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in 2014.

Monster (2014) — 84,727,734 Streams = $66,646.84

The tape came after the Atlanta rapper split from his ex-fiancée Ciara. It also contained the track “Codiene Crazy”, need we say more?

DS2 (2015) — 1,291,438,934 Streams = $1,015,845.87

DS2 by Future

Wildly successful, Future’s third studio album, DS2, is the third highest-grossing project in his Spotify discography. The singles “Where Ya At,” “Stick Talk,” and “F**k Up Some Commas” contributed to the overall success of the album, with DS2 selling over 151,000 units and ranking No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.

Purple Reign (2016) — 59,101,427 Streams = $46,489.18

Executive produced by both DJ ESCO and Metro Boomin, this mixtape is the first non-commercial mixtape for the rapper since Monster. Originally released exclusively on Datpiff and LiveMixtapes, Purple Reign is lowest-earning project on this list. However, part of that can be attributed to the fact the streaming version of the album removed “Wicked” from the tracklist (it was added to EVOL). “Wicked” alone has over 164 million streams, more than all the songs on Purple Reign combined.

EVOL (2016) — 1,079,155,659 Streams = $848,863.84

Selling 134,000 units and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Future’s fourth studio album EVOL is the artist’s second album to break 1 billion streams on Spotify. The album featured the chart-killing singles “Low Life” (featuring The Weeknd) and “Wicked,” and went Platinum just two years after its release in 2016.

FUTURE (2017) — 2,123,199,071 Streams = $ 1,670,108.39

Future’s self-titled fifth studio album dropped in 2017, and brought listeners the hit track “Mask Off,” which did over 1.1 billion streams by itself. The album is currently the highest-earning project in Future’s Spotify discography, cracking over 2 billion streams on the platform. The project also marked his fourth No. 1 Billboard 200 debut and sold 140,000 units in its first week.

HNDRXX (2017) — 965,109,491 Streams = $759,155.13

HNDRXX cover

HNDRXX, Future’s sixth studio album, was released just a week after his last album FUTURE, making Future the first artist to release two Billboard chart-topping albums in consecutive weeks. The project sold 121,000 in album-equivalent sales during its first week and is best known for its well-received single “Selfish” featuring Rihanna.

The WIZRD (2019) — 526,130,649 Streams = $413,854.37

Future The Wizrd

Named after a nickname from his uncle, Future’s The WIZRD is his seventh studio album. The album’s lead singles “Crushed Up” and “Jumped Off a Jet” performed tremendously, currently achieving 118 million and 42 million streams, respectively. The project was also released in conjunction with a documentary film of the same name that chronicles Future’s time on 2016’s Purple Reign tour.

High Off Life (2020) — 1,571,180,287 Streams = $1,235,890.41

Future High Off Life

Released in 2020, and executive produced by DJ ESCO, Future’s eight studio album is his second highest-earning project on Spotify. The album had a number of memorable features and was supported by five promotional singles, most notably “Trilliionaire” (featuring YoungBoy NBA) and “Life is Good” (featuring Drake), the latter of which currently has over 900 million streams alone.

I NEVER LIKED YOU — 404,584,207 Streams = $318,245.94

I Never Liked You Future

Released in late April, Future’s newest album sold 222,000 album-equivalent units, his best first-week sales to date. The latest edition to Future’s discography has only been available to stream for just over a month and has already amassed over 400 million plays on Spotify, worth well over $300,000. The album marks the artist’s eighth #1 Billboard entry and is currently performing well in streams, but ultimately only time will tell just how much Future ends up making off this project.

Total – $7,060,373.02

In conclusion, Future has made (approximately) over $7 million, just from streaming revenue for his major projects on Spotify alone.
