Snoop Dogg has long praised his friendship with Tupac Shakur and is now sharing how the late rapper helped him with his first child when they were young rising artists.

After Uncle Snoop released his chart-topping debut album, “Doggystyle,” in November 1993, his first son, Corde, was born months later in August 1994.  When speaking with People recently, Snoop shared how Shakur would make sure Corde was cared for when he came to the studio with Dad.  As they worked on his sophomore album, “Tha Doggfather,” Shakur would often bring adequate food for Corde since Snoop was unable to leave the booth, grabbing McDonald’s and other items for the baby.

“Tupac loved him. It’s like his nephew. Tupac was a better dad than me.  We’ve been up here [in the recording studio for] three hours and we ain’t got him nothing to eat. It’s like I’m up here rapping and s**t, I’m not being a father. [He was] training me,” Snoop told the outlet.

Sadly, Shakur wouldn’t be around to watch Corde grow up, as he was tragically gunned down in a September 1996 Las Vegas shooting.  He was just 25 at the time.  After Snoop welcomed his second son, Cordell, in 1997, he leaned on his time collaborating closely with Shakur to help raise his boys.  He was also motivated by other fathers.

“I put them in football, and I watched them work together. Football helped me to become a real good father because I was around other men who were single parents, or either had a great wife, or was a grandfather raising their son’s kids — so much I could learn from them,” Snoop recalls.
