Kanye West may bag headlines, but Adidas most innovative collaborators aren’t in the main stable. The three-strips sub-label, Y-3, where Japanese design maven Yohji Yamamoto creates grail designs like some sneaker-mad scientist, has put out some of the best (and occasionally most unwearable) trainers of the last decade.
Not least the QR, which hits that sweet spot between futuristic design and not being so weird that they just live in their dust bags (you listening, Rick Owens?).

For spring, the brand’s gracing us with two new colorways. Or, more accurately, lack-of-colorways. The QR Run comes in black and white, and stitches leather and synthetic mesh to the brand’s all-conquering Boost sole on the forefoot, and a take on Tubular at the back.
So if you did decide to strap them on for a few laps of the park, you’d see off that PB with ease. Although something tells us you won’t want to get all that sleek, jaw-dropping minimalism grubby.
Available now at Footpatrol, priced £270.
